CAD to BIM Discovery Questions

What should I expect during a CAD to BIM Discovery?

The transition from CAD to BIM can be different for every organization. The Discovery process is where we determine requirements for a new BIM ecosystem. The following list contains questions 10 questions we typically ask during a Bim Implementation Discovery meeting.

  1. What is your experience working with BIM and Revit?
  2. What would you expect to see as a result of a successful BIM transformation / implementation?
  3. What is the biggest bottleneck in your current workflow?
  4. Outside of Design Development and creating construction documents, is there anything you would like to achieve with BIM or Revit?
  5. If you are active in Revit, what comments do you have on the existing office content – what works and what does not?
  6. Out of all of the projects you have worked on recently, which one is the best example of drawings, schedules, etc?
  7. Are there any other pieces of software or addins you would like to learn, have heard about, or think would be beneficial to your current workflow?
