Cloud collaboration for all, no matter how small

Not so long ago, coordination between team members was a major issue. Not only everyone had to adjust their schedules, but also be fully aware of the project’s latest updates and modifications. This often led to confusion, lots of hours spent in old versions of a project, and the worst part: shuffling of deadlines.

Luckily, the scenario has changed. You know about BIM360 and other cloud collaboration platforms. We all know that cloud collaboration is here to make our life easier, especially in a post-pandemic world where many employees will work from home. But what if your organization is smaller, or does not have the budget to pay for high-cost licenses?

Last year, many of our clients and our company changed the way we worked. For our larger clients already using Bim360, there was not much of a shift other than the space's employees were collaborating from. The software allows models to be collaborated on, simultaneously, by many team members, in real-time. Changes, suggestions, and improvements no longer take long periods of time. They can be discussed and implemented in minutes, and of course, this means quicker project delivery.

Hololens for harsh environments

Let 's start with a quick exercise: think about a workplace that represents multiple challenges. Darkness, a small space, a dangerous/irregular terrain or even a lack of communication with the outside world. All of these places are often the main obstacles we have to face at the time of working on specific projects.

Now let 's create a solution. Of course, the best alternative would be to work in that space minimizing the risks and optimizing the use of resources. This way, the project could be carried on while drastically reducing the risks both for the employees and the equipment. How can you achieve this? Hololens.

My problem with paper

I’m looking at a pile of paperwork on my desk this morning. I know that buried in that stack is a financial document I need to review later. I know who sent it, when it came in, and vaguely what it looks like. I’m still dreading having to physically sort through the mess to find the one piece I want. Sorry Michael Scott, but if I had one wish in life, it might be to eliminate all the paperwork.

Building a new data ecosystem part 2 - Implementation

In our last few posts, we introduced you to our ecosystem design principles and the platforms we chose. Implementation can always be more perfect, and just as we changed a lot internally in the last 5 months, the next year will hold even more surprises for us. We know you are going through similar changes, so this is  of how we formed an architecture for our data ecosystem.

Effective Design Collaboration: Cloud Storage Strategy

During the COVID-19 crisis, Autodesk offered a free license to anyone who wanted to use BIM 360. During this period, many new users grew accustomed to the rich feature set due to the low technical barrier to entry. However, the software can be expensive and not every company has the budget or need for such a comprehensive solution. If you are in that group, you came here to read what the right solution is for you. Before answering, it is important to get in the right frame of mind and understand the following:

Are you ready for McKinsey's Next "Normal"

Last week, our blog discussed McKinsey's latest report: " The Next Normal in Construction." Some of the figures they mention are eye-watering: below average industry growth rates, razor thin profit margins and $1.6 trillion in potential value-add that is left on the table through inefficiency. Our main takeaway is that the AEC industry is undergoing a digital transformation from a bespoke industry to a product based approach.
